What goes on a business card

A good business card is restrained: a clear name and title, the company, and one or two reliable ways to reach you. The temptation is to cram in every channel — phone, mobile, two emails, three social handles, a slogan — but a card someone glances at for two seconds works better with white space than with clutter. Pick the contact details you actually want used, make the name the largest element, and let everything else sit quietly beneath it.

Standard sizes and print resolution

The standard card is 3.5 × 2 inches in the US and Canada and 85 × 55 mm across most of Europe — close, but not identical, so confirm which your printer expects. Print needs roughly 300 dots per inch to look crisp, which is why this generator draws the card on a high-resolution canvas rather than at screen size: a card that looks fine on a monitor can come out fuzzy on paper if the pixels are too few. Commercial printers also ask for a small "bleed" margin and a safe area — keep text away from the very edge so nothing important is trimmed off.

PNG or PDF for printing

Export the PNG for a quick digital share or a proof, and the correctly sized PDF when you're sending the card to a print shop — PDF carries the exact physical dimensions, which most printers prefer. Everything is rendered in your browser, so your details are never uploaded. Keep them consistent with your email signature, and consider adding a QR code linking to your site or vCard.
